Introduction to Enabot and Ebo

Enabot is a team from Hong Kong who first launched their first products in 2019, on Kickstarter. They did the Ebo S and Ebo Pro then. Recently, they launched another Kickstarter project for Ebo SE and Ebo Air! These are the newly improved moving camera after they have gotten a lot of both negative and positive comments about their past project. I saw their new project on Kickstarter in early May 2021 and decided to pledge for their Ebo SE. It was HK$457 (SGD80) for the pledge and another HKD147 (SGD25) for the shipping.

EBO SE Review

Good points of the EBO SE

  • Easy to set-up

As soon as I plugged in the charging dock and placed the EBO SE on it, I used the downloaded Ebo app to connect the robot to my phone.

  • Easy to control

The interface of the app was quite easy to understand and I could move the Ebo around easily. With EBO SE, you can control the robot camera using your phone and drive around your house to spy on your family or your pets. I got it mainly to check on my cats when I’m not at home. It’s great as you don’t have to buy a cctv camera for every single room. You just need this one robot to drive around the house.

  • Great camera quality and 2-way communication

With the 1080pHD camera and the 2-way microphone on the EBO SE, you can communicate with your family members or pets when you’re away.

  • Rarely encountered problems of the EBO SE getting stuck

Every time the robot tumbles sideways or upside down, it will automatically tumble right back up. There’s also a ’shake’ function that can help you move up a small step.

Bad points of the EBO SE

  • Can’t go up steps that are over 5mm high

Hence, I can’t really drive the EBO SE onto my thick carpets.

  • Finding the charging dock

It takes a little long for the EBO SE to find it’s charging dock sometimes. The programming could have been done better I guess.

Other than that, I really love the EBO SE and it was worth my SGD104 (including shipping) to back the project. If you’re interested, you can now get the EBO SE and EBO AIR on their website, na.enabot.com at their retail prices (starting at USD119).
